Battlestar Galactica: The Plan

Posted on June 23rd, 2009 at 09:50 by shea | No Comments »

So in watching the long-anticipated finale of BSG, I couldn’t help but ask myself: “Weren’t the Cylons supposed to have some sort of motherfucking plan?”. For years, the intro’s had teased us, assuring us that despite the seemingly contradictory and thrown together plot lines, there was a master plan, a reason to the rhyming. The finale though was 1/2 effects extravaganza and 1/2 retarded allegory, with not a drop of plan in sight. Apparently this oversight didn’t go unnoticed at the Casa di Moore or SciFi decided it needed to wring a little more milk from it’s tired cash cow, because here we find the trailer for BSG: The Plan, the upcoming 2 hour band aid to attempt a patch on the many plot holes. And how could you not get suckered in with a line like “Let’s get this Genocide Started.”. Yikes.

Pre-Muppet Muppets Hawking Violence and Coffee

Posted on June 23rd, 2009 at 09:15 by shea | No Comments »

Before they were teaching you the alphabet, how to count to 10 and the importance of sharing, the Muppets had a violent capitalist bent. Watch as they hawk Wilkins Coffee with the sort of cartoonish mayhem sadly lacking these days.

Actual Analogies from High School Essays

Posted on June 22nd, 2009 at 11:20 by shea | No Comments »

These run the gamut from intriguing to flat-out atrocious.  Some favorites:

He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a Guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one those boxes with a pinhole in it.

From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you’re on vacation in another city and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 p.m. instead of 7:30.

John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.

The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work

The Origin of Futurama’s Bender?

The likeness of the robot in the Above cover to Futurama’s Bender is too striking to be a coincidence.  To top it off, an prototype Bending Unit worked on by Prof. Farnsworth in a later Futurama episode bears even more resemblance.  Just some interesting Futurama info for you to enjoy while celebrating the series apparent return.

Note to Morons: Injecting Lubricant into your Face is Fucking Stupid

Posted on June 19th, 2009 at 09:27 by shea | No Comments »

It’s pretty stupid to fork over wads of cash to have some doctor inject deadly toxins into your face.  What’s even more stupid however, is deciding that the foolish part of the previous equation is the doctor part and proceeding with an entirely DIY home cosmetic procedure.  “Its very frightening, its very embarrassing having to be in public”, I agree, it’s frightening and embarrassing the level of idiocy one finds walking around in public.

Just in case the Picard Song didn’t torture you enough, Chris thought this would be appropriate additional torture.  Or, at the very least, payback for exposure to the Picard Song.
